Relative Ties brings together the work of three generations of women artists from the illustrious Nicholson family - Mabel Nicholson, Nancy Nicholson, EQ Nicholson and Louisa Creed - and considers what is inherited from our mothers, what can be carried through matrilineal lines, and the role of siblings in shaping a creative practice.

In dialogue with this legacy, the artist Katie Schwab has developed a new body of work responding to the materials, techniques and concerns of the artists, extending their practices into the present.
